Los Angeles International Breaks Ground on New US$1.6 Billion Concourse

A 750,000-square-foot (70,000 sqm) addition to the Tom Bradley International Terminal at Los Angeles International Airport will include a dozen new gates, baggage facilities, and shopping and dining outlets, officials said at a groundbreaking ceremony this week. “Our passengers will soon experience LAX in a new and exciting way,” said Los Angeles World Airports Chief Executive Officer Deborah Flint.

Slated for completion in late 2019, the five-level Midfield Satellite Concourse will include a pair of gates capable of accommodating Airbus 380 super jumbo and Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental aircraft. A 1,000-foot (304-metre) underground pedestrian tunnel will connect the new facility to the Bradley terminal. Buses will provide connections to the airport’s other terminals.
